Pupil Premium and Catch Up Funding

Pupil Premium Grant (PPG)

Pupil Premium Coordinator – Miss Rachel Swindell

The Pupil Premium Grant is a government initiative that provides additional funding on top of the main finding a school receives. It is targeted at pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to ensure they benefit from the same opportunities as pupils from less deprived families. For each pupil from Reception to Year 6, the allocation is worth £1320 and goes to those currently on Free School Meals, those in local authority care or in adoptive care and also any child that has been registered for Free School Meals in the past six years-since 2011. Children whose parents are currently in the Armed Forces or have been in the past six years are also eligible for a smaller Pupil Premium Grant.

In addition there is a facility where any parent in hardship can apply for help via a Disadvantaged Subsidy Grant (DSG) via the school.

All pupils must be counted as eligible in the government's annual January school census.

It is important that all children in our care reach their full potential so we endeavour to ensure support is carefully matched to every child's needs whatever their background.

Parents can apply for a Pupil Premium Grant at any time and ask about other support in confidence,  at the school office.

We currently use Pupil Premium funding in the following ways:

Academic support If a child is identified as requiring additional academic support, the grant will be used to fund a specific programme that will usually be taught by a teaching assistant.
Uniform All Pupil Premium children are entitled to a free set of school uniform each year and free additional stationary (pencils, handwriting pens and erasers).
Cultural Experiences The school wishes all children to have the opportunity to take part and enjoy cultural experiences. Any class trips can be paid for using the Pupil Premium grant money.
Extra Curricular Activities To ensure all children have access to a diverse range of educational activities, any extra curricular clubs and approved music tuition run through the school can be paid for using the Pupil Premium grant.

There are also some out of school approved clubs that can be paid for e.g. Brownies or Cubs.
